it won't stop raining!!!!

i think the title says it all! we've been pretty home bound the past few weeks, as the rain keeps on coming and coming and coming!!! i've been busy with work (as usual) and craig has taken a temporary job at att for the next month or so. kaetlyn is getting around very well, although i wouldn't exactly call it a crawl... knees are not involved in the movement, but she's quick and all over the place nonetheless. she's also standing a lot and cruising from one piece of furniture to the next.... 9 months old! it seems like the blink of an eye. at her 9 month appointment she weighed 20 lb 15 oz and was 28 inches long. mimi came to visit and they really enjoyed playing together and reading books. mimi did a great job of keeping kaetlyn happy in the car, which has become quite a challenge lately!

time flies!!!!!!

we have been so busy that i have not had time to update this blog. i feel terribly guilty, but can't do anything except try to do better from this point forward!

past few weeks activies are as follows:

in mid-may we went to Lake Buchanan with kim and jared. kaetlyn and i went for a brief swim, but it was a bit overcast, and she had been under the weather so i didn't want to get her too wet. Here are some pics of our trip to the lake:
the following weekend we went to LC for megan's high school graduation and then stopped off in houston on the way home to celebrate rachel's birthday. pics from this fund weekend in slideshow below.

since our trip to LA/TX we have enjoyed some time at home... housecleaning, organizing, and such. kaetlyn and i have spent our evenings taking walks and going to the pool. she loves swimming!! she's crawling and standing and bruising herself daily. the stairs are new found fascination as well. we're having a blast, but can't take our eyes off of her for a second! here is a picture of her first busted lip as well as a couple others:

so much going on....

it has been so long since i've updated this site... there's just been SO much going on! the past month has been go - go - go, and i just haven't had time to sit down and add the excitement to the blog... so here we go!

a few weekends ago we went for a fun hike at lake georgetown w/ the bantas... pics:










the following weekend kelly, annabelle, and willie came to town. we went to eeyore's birthday party and the kids enjoyed each other...

the next weekend, we spent the weekend in houston with the perkins... here's 1 cute pic of kaetlyn, and the rest are on the rucker's blogspot which you can link to from this page.

summertime is busy, but so much fun... HOORAY!

kaetlyn is getting so big.. she's basically crawling in her own sort of way. she's not too quick yet, but certainly getting around. she's also pulling herself up to standing and having a good time pulling stuff off the coffee table. she's gotten a couple bumps and bruises, but that goes with the territory!

colorado bend

today we went to colorado bend and had a fun day! the weather was beautiful... it was the perfect day for a hike :)

playtime is so much fun!

this morning we played on th floor for a little while... when put on her stomach, she ends up scooting backwards and gets really frustrated... she'll get the hang of it sooner or later. :) yesterday i had the pleasure of staying home with her for the day, as craig went to houston for work. she's so fun and such a good baby! not so great at napping, though... i think she gets that from her mommy... today we might go to the pool and see how swimming goes over! if we go, i'll be sure to take a ton of pictures of this momentous event. happy saturday!!

splish splash....

our newest developments involve hygiene... as you can see in the pics, kaetlyn can now sit up in the bath tub! she is discovering the exciting world of bath toys and seems to enjoy this newly discovered playtime. she also now has 5 teeth! the top front two came in on 3/13 and the top left next to the front on 3/28. as a result, we're beginning to brush those little suckers in the evenings before bedtime. she likes the way the toothpaste tastes, so it's not too difficult a task... although trying to get a picture with any of her teeth showing is proving to be. ;)

we went to her 6 month doctor appt yesterday and she got her 3rd round of shots... not too fun for any involved party, but otherwise she is progressing nicely. she is 18 lb 4 oz and 27 inches! she's ranging in the 90th percentile for both right now! who'd have ever thought i'd have such a big girl???

fun weekend

we had a really fun weekend! i took friday off work and we spend the morning hiking with susan, bootsie, little jack, and chuck... went home for a nice long nap and a relaxing evening. saturday we got up and headed to jan's for a trip to enchanted rock... boy is it beautiful! we spend the day hiking and climbing some of the smaller rocks surrounding the "enchanted rock." there is so much to explore and see there, i can't wait to go back again. kaetlyn is a little trooper and we can tell that she enjoys the outdoors. she is sitting up pretty well on her own and becoming quite the little person with her own distinctive personality.... if only she would sleep through the night. ;) i can't believe she's almost 6 months old. she's really beginning to enjoy baby food and has dinner every night. she also rolled from back to front several times this weekend... don't think she's doing it completely on purpose, but pretty soon she'll be all over the place! we are having so much fun with her. craig is about to begin his first independent contract as a self-employed artist. i'm very proud of him for all his hard work. pics are from enchanted rock on saturday and also kaetlyn enjoying her sweet potatoes today at dinner. :p

perkins family visit

here are a few pics from the perkins visit over the weekend. barbara and i had a combined birthday celebration. it was nice to see the family and have the chance for the kiddos to hang out ;) the babies are cutiepies and alyx is spectacular as always. fun weekend!!

new developments

i've included some of our most recent pictures of the exciting events in our lives these days... kaetlyn is beginning to eat baby food on a regular basis... we just decided to skip the cereal all together. she wasn't liking it one bit! tonight she had her first big girl dinner of baby sweet potatoes, baby bananas, and big people bread. and she chowed down!!! we also noticed today that 2 + 2 = 4... her two top teeth are poking through her gums now! i can't believe it! she is so much fun!!!

perdenales falls national park

today we had a big day! we spent the day hiking and exploring perdenales falls. it was a beautiful day. we hiked between 7 & 8 miles and are now completely worn out. kaetlyn was such a trooper! she seems to enjoy the outdoors and just passes out in her carrier when she's had enough. here are some pictures of today:
